07 Jul Successful electric vehicle phase-1 roll out in multi-national business
The Client
A multi-national tech business and long-term client of 12 years. Operating 2400 vehicles across 18 countries.
The Objective
The client needed support to roll-out the initial phase of their Sustainable Fleet strategy, the aim of which is to be carbon neutral by 2030.
Our Solution
The multi-national nature of the client business was such that, depending on the country, the tax structure that should incentivise EV take-up sometimes favoured the company, and sometimes the employee.
It was imperative therefore to capture as many tax and cost components as possible so that everything that might support greener technologies was incorporated in the final choice mechanisms, offsetting, as far as possible, the higher price of the electric cars.
To encourage driver take-up of EV’s the practical issues of home and public charging formed an integral part of the solution. Because multiple lessors were involved, and the charging infrastructure solution was largely localised, it was important to engage all stakeholders with lateral thinking and careful negotiation.
The Result
The solutions are very market specific, and require careful management, but, after careful introduction, electric vehicles became the default choice in 50% of the initial phase markets, and were considered a serious option in the remaining markets.
